Dr. Marcolini graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Microbiology. While in optometry school at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Marcolini traveled to Guatemala on a mission to bring eye care to the underprivileged. After optometry school, he completed an ocular disease residency at Omni Eye Services and was invited to become a full time consultative optometrist.

Dr. Marcolini serves optometry on both a state and local level. He is currently a member of the American Optometric Association and has recently been appointed Vice President of the New Jersey Society of Optometric Physicians. In addition he is a member of the Clinical Care Committee, chair of the industry relations committee and serves currently as the vice-president for his local society, the Tri-County Society of Optometric Physicians.

Currently he enjoys adjunct faculty status at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, SUNY College of Optometry, University of California-Berkeley College of Optometry, Ohio State College of Optometry and the New England College of Optometry.

Dr. Marcolini has been published in Review of Ophthalmology and Optometric Management. He has lectured nationally on various topics in ocular disease at the meetings of the American Optometric Association, SECO and the American Academy of Optometry. In 2003 he became a Fellow in the Academy.
